Club Team Registrations

General Information

LMYL Travel Teams are an additive element to the LMYL House Program (our recreational program), not a stand-alone activity. Our intention is to give those players with more interest in the sport, the opportunity to play more, learn more, work more closely with a dedicated coaching staff and experience the logistics and responsibilities of a sports travel team.

LMYL is recognized throughout the Metropolitan area as an outstanding competitor.  Creating teams that foster sportsmanship, a dedicated work ethic and skill development comprise our highest goals. It is also very important to understand that each player earns a spot on our travel team each year. Meaning, if you made the travel team last year, it does not give you a spot on this years roster automatically. We will select the travel teams based on your ability this year.

LMYL House Program

The LMYL Board is committed to evaluating ways to improve our Travel and House Programs. Based on our Board observations and your feedback from year-end, league surveys, we have decided to implement a change in our House Program Lightning Division (Grades 5th and 6th). Our league was founded as a recreational program and we remain committed to introducing and teaching the game of lacrosse to our non-travel players interested in furthering their skill development and having fun while doing so.  This year, travel players in 5th and 6th grade will have a reduced commitment to our House Program.  Games for this age group only will be moved to Friday night and both travel and non-travel players will participate in games.  On Saturdays, we will hold a skills clinic for 5th and 6th grade, non-travel players only.

Travel Players Commitment to House Program

Every travel player in Grades 3-4 must participate in LMYL weekly House Program (Friday night clinics and Saturday games).  As discussed above, travel players in Grades 5-6 will be required to participate in House League games only which will now be moved to Friday night.  Since our House League ends in 6th grade, travel players in Grades 7-8 have no House Program obligations.

It is expected that LMYL Travel players are fully committed to lacrosse for the spring season.  We understand that children at this age have other athletic commitments and we fully support them playing multiple sports.  That being said, we do expect Lacrosse to be the top priority of our Travel players, if this is not the case for your child please consider not trying out for the travel program.
